All options, including those for accessing the settings and viewing profiles, are located in a slide-out menu. Tap the “matches” option to browse, which, oddly, does not show you the people you’ve matched with but rather the people you could potentially match with. If that interface is too chaotic for you, tap the “quickmatch” option, which restricts the results to photos only. You can like people or message them in a similar fashion to Tinder, but messaging is your better bet: Users can see who has liked them only if they have upgraded to “A-list” status.
If you’re used to other sites such as Match, Zoosk or even Christian Mingle, one thing you’ll have to keep in mind is Christian Café doesn’t have as many members as those other sites. That can be good and bad. You’re not going to find a thousand people online in the last 24 hours in your area when you filter through your results. It’s going to be slimmer pickings. But it’s slimmer pickings for them, too, so you don’t have as much competition as you would on some other dating sites.

A dating profile also styles its creator as a “product,” while showing what kind of “product” s/he is seeking (or what kind of subject/object s/he desires) in return. Thus while users are marketing themselves, a part of this promotionalism involves signalling what one chooses to consume, which in turn makes one worth consuming (as a “product”). In this kind of environment, it would seem unsurprising to find people objectifying potential partners as accessories, items to match to a chosen lifestyle.
Keeping the search results wide open: If your goal is to meet someone in the immediate future for a casual drink or get together, the best option would be mobile dating apps like Tinder, JSwipe and many others. These apps allow you to quickly find similarly minded people. On most dating sites, you can use a sort feature to see which members are currently online right now and available to talk.
So given the evidence, and the fact that it’s totally okay to think dating online sucks and still do it anyway, I wanted to know: Which apps come most recommended by people who fuckin’ hate to date? Which tech have daters made peace with, and why? Some of their answers won’t surprise you—even if their reasoning does—while other options are refreshingly new.
